REMEMBERING PROVO:

HISTORICAL PHOTOGRAPHS PROJECT

The Remembering Provo: Historical Photographs Project began in January 2009. Historical photographs were supplied by the Provo City Library Special Collections, Provo City departments, citizens, businesses, and institutions. The photographs were digitized in high archival quality for educational and private, non-commercial use. This collection specifically focuses on the buildings, people, and history of Provo, Utah.  Our goal was to create a collection that showcases Provo’s photographic past, featuring both prominent buildings and figures and everyday shops and streets.

Funds for the Remembering Provo project were contributed by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and were administered by the Utah State Library. This project is made possible through partnerships with Utah Valley University Library and Archives and the Mountain West Digital Library (mwdl.org).  We are indebted to Mr. Ephraim Hatch, local historian and author, for conceiving the idea of a Provo digitization project.  Many individuals, businesses, and institutions also deserve our heartfelt appreciation for their valuable photographic contributions.  Owners of photographs are noted on each record.

Any corrections or additions to the descriptions and dates of photographs may be sent to: annmariem@provolibrary.org.
